STEP BY STEP INSTALLATION TUTORIAL

Once you selected RealPlayer 8 basic, the following screen appears...

By clicking on the little arrow pointing downwards at the right side on each box you can open a so called "drop-down menu" and select your operating system (OS), the processor type of your computer (CPU), your preferred language, and the speed of your internet connection.  If you don't know your connection speed, select "Other / Don't know". Then type your name and e-mail address in the boxes and click once on the Download FREE RealPlayer 8 Basic box.

on the next screen...

You are given a choice of three RealPlayer Basic download packages to choose from. Select the options that are best for you, keeping in mind that more add-ons will require greater disk space and longer download time. The recommended package is selected by default. You can now click on the Download FREE RealPlayer Basic Now box.

on the next screen...

You can select where you want to download the program from. It may appear logical to select a site which is the closest to your geographical location, however, there are many factors, which determine the overall download speed and the closest server is not necessarily the best. Click on a location.

on the following screen...

Follow the directions on your screen. If you run into any problems click on the link that says 'click here' as instructed. After doing so, the FILE DOWNLOAD dialog box will open.

Select the "Save this program to disk" option by clicking in the little circle next to it. This is usually selected by default, so you just have to click OK once.

The SAVE AS dialog box appears:

This is a critical point. You must remember later, where you are saving the file now. By clicking the arrow pointing down next on the left side of the "Save in" field, select Desktop (this way the file will appear on the desktop and once it is downloaded to your computer) or any folder on your hard disk that you will remember later. Click SAVE.

The FILE DOWNLOAD Dialog Box appears:

Once the download is complete, you will be prompted to open the file. Click on the Open button.

Exit all programs running on your computer (by selecting File/EXIT on all of them), including your web browser.

If you selected "Desktop" in the Save As dialog box, the rp8-standard-u1-setup.exe file should appear on your desktop..
(If you forgot where the file is, try to locate it on your system. For example, if you are using Windows 95, hit the START button on your desktop, select FIND / Files or Folders and type rp8-standard-u1-setup.exe.)

Double-click on the rp8-standard-u1-setup.exe file and the follow the instructions on the screen.

Once you have finished the installation you can restart your browser, return to our site and enjoy the videos.

If you have trouble viewing the videos check the following:

1.  In the RealPlayer menu select VIEW/PREFERENCES.

2.  Select the CONNECTION tab.

3.  In the BANDWITH dropdown box select the speed your using to connect to the internet (home users: 28.8 / 33.6 / 56.6 kbps modem connection, corporate users usually connect via T1/LAN or dual ISDN connections)

4.  Click OK

5.  Try accessing the video clip again

If the above mentioned actions did not help, there is probably a problem with your internet connection, or there might be a temporary network congestion.   Try watching the videos at a less demanding time (like late at night or early in the morning).

If you are behind a firewall (you try to access the videos from work or school) contact your IT administrator to see if you can get firewall privileges.
